Add a sophisticated wine-red color to your handmade candles with the Burgundy Candle Dye Block. Formulated for improved color clarity, this concentrated solid candle dye colors more wax than traditional dye chips and lets you control the finished shade by adjusting the amount used.
The Burgundy Candle Dye Block is compatible with both soy wax and paraffin wax. Soy wax generally produces a softer, more muted burgundy, while paraffin wax can create a deeper and more saturated wine-red shade.
For lighter colors, shave the dye block into smaller pieces and add the shavings gradually to fully melted candle wax. Add more dye gradually to create a darker charcoal or black. The block can also be blended with other candle dye colors to deepen or mute custom shades.
Available as a single block, a 12-block pack, or a 60-block pack, this candle dye is suitable for testing new formulas, making small batches, and producing candles in larger quantities.
For reliable results, create a complete test candle using the intended wax, dye, fragrance, additives, vessel or mold, and wick. Allow it to cure and conduct a full burn test before beginning production.
Creating custom colors
Burgundy Candle Dye Blocks can be blended with other candle dye blocks to create custom shades:
- Burgundy + red: Rich wine red, cranberry or merlot
- Burgundy + magenta: Raspberry, berry or vibrant wine
- Burgundy + purple: Plum, mulberry or dark grape
- Burgundy + brown: Mahogany, oxblood or earthy wine
- Burgundy + a small amount of black: Deep burgundy or near-black cherry
- A small amount in white wax: Dusty rose, muted berry or mauve
Add the second color gradually and record every measurement so the custom shade can be reproduced.
Product type: Concentrated solid dye
Dye Type: Block
Dye Color: Burgundy
The amount of dye used controls the intensity of the finished color. Shave the block into smaller pieces for soft wine, dusty rose or muted berry shades. Gradually add more dye to create a deeper burgundy.
The finished shade can be affected by:
- Type and natural color of the wax
- Amount of dye used
- Size and thickness of the dye shavings
- Fragrance oil
- Wax additives
- Mixing temperature
- Cooling and curing conditions
- Lighting conditions
Soy wax is naturally white and opaque, so it commonly produces a softer or more muted yellow. Paraffin wax generally creates a clearer, brighter and more saturated shade.
Melted wax may look darker than the finished candle. Always evaluate a completely cooled sample before adjusting the formula or pouring the full batch.
